Following the success of the series of 30 CPD Seminars during the first half of 2013, leading search provider PSG has announced a further 35 events during September 2013. They are holding 26 seminars, each providing 3 SRA accredited CPD points, which will take place across England and Wales and for those who can’t attend PSG have complemented the face to face learning events with 9 webinars.

Stephen Murray, Business Development Director at PSG said “We were delighted at the extremely positive feedback we received from our events earlier in the year. Many delegates have been enquiring about further CPD events and we felt by organising venues across England and Wales we could assist Conveyancers and Solicitors in meeting their CPD requirements, ahead of the October deadline.  It’s also a great opportunity for us to meet with our clients and potential new clients and for them to network with their industry peers”

Janet Thewlis of Yorkshire based firm Chadwick Lawrence Solicitors commented “Fulfilling the annual CPD quota is an important pre-requisite of my profession. It’s no secret that meeting the requirement can be inconvenient and often extremely difficult to fit into hectic work schedules. PSG took all of this into consideration when organising their CPD events earlier this year. The seminar I attended in Huddersfield in March was extremely relevant, delivered by engaging speakers and covered an expansive range of topics over the three hour session. It was a brilliant way to get a deeper insight into the key issues facing our market and I am looking forward to being brought up to date with current issues at their next CPD seminar.”

The face to face events are being supported by Groundsure, Conveyancing Liability Solutions (CLS) and compliance consultants Legal Eye.

Gary Miller, a representative from GroundSure was amongst the varied line up of speakers at the PSG seminars earlier in the year and was keen to join PSG again for their CPD series in September. Gary commented “The PSG CPD seminars held earlier on in the year were very well received by all who attended. We received a great deal of positive feedback from delegates and were therefore extremely pleased to be invited to take part in the forthcoming events.”

For those not able to attend the CPD seminars, PSG, in association with Landmark Information Group, are also providing 9 one hour webinars.

Know your client checks – A lesson from BHS

Paul-Bennett for Legal Futures

As you will be aware, it is a legal requirement for advisory firms to carry out ‘know your client’ checks. The purpose of doing so is to confirm your client’s identity and to seek to provide protection in respect of anti-money laundering (AML) and terrorist financing laws. The BHS experience before the House of Commons’ work and pensions committee and business, innovation and skills committee shows that firms need to think beyond AML obligations.
