Premonition200Premonition today announced the Barristers and solicitors’ firms with the best win ratio in the Commercial Court. Over the last three years Ashurst LLP and Norton Rose LLP have both had an 83% win rate in their appearances in the Commercial Court.

Adrian Beltrami Q.C. of 3 Verulam Buildings has enjoyed 100% win rates in his appearances in this court over that time.

Premonition has the world’s largest legal database and can offer its UK clients detailed analysis of all results of almost 12000 High Court cases.

A surprising range of businesses and firms are using the data supplied in many ways. For example, to reduce the risk of losses by instructing those barristers with good track records, to select the solicitors’ firms with similar pedigree and to use the mass data to help predict insurance liability from events leading to litigation.

Joint (ad)ventures in the legal sector

We all know that nothing in life is certain. As the actor, director and philosopher Clint Eastwood once said: “If you want a guarantee, buy a toaster.” He also said he’d tried being reasonable and didn’t like it. They should teach this kind of philosophy in law school. One thing in life is reasonably certain though. If you’re a law firm worth your salt, at some point you will be approached by another entity (most probably a work introducer) with a whizzy idea to ‘partner’ with you to ‘help you accelerate your growth’. In commercial speak this means, ‘we’d like to keep feeding you work but we’d also like to share in your profits’. The arrangement may be pitched to you as a joint venture – a win-win no less.
