Derry: effective online campaigns

Telephone answering specialist Moneypenny and mmadigital, the online marketing agency for the legal sector, have joined together to assist law firms in securing and converting new enquiries.

The new link up is aimed at offering a more joined up approach by encouraging firms to ensure they have all their incoming telephone calls covered to maximise the success of any lead generation activity. To do this mmadigital clients taking on a new legal marketing campaign have the option to receive call handling from Moneypenny completely free of charge for four weeks.

Dez Derry CEO of mmadigital explains: “Our role with law firms is to develop effective online campaigns which raise brand awareness and directly generate new business. To be successful though, this activity relies on the firm responding to any enquiries effectively and so often clients still very much wish to make contact by telephone.

“We see so many synergies between ourselves and Moneypenny as our campaigns generate leads 24/7, but we know law firms are potentially missing some or taking too long to respond to others as they don’t have a good out of hours offering. By engaging with Moneypenny, law firms can be sure they have all their calls covered thereby creating a virtuous circle which capitalises on their marketing spend.”

Moneypenny Business Development Manager Kevin Bishop knows all too well the issues some firms still have with telephone answering and is delighted with the new link up. He says: “While there are many fine examples of law firms answering their telephones consistently and efficiently, we also know there are many still missing calls.

“Professor Ian Cooper’s mystery shopper exercise of 254 law firms, of all sizes, a few months ago highlighted a worrying catalogue of unanswered and mishandled calls, resulting in startling numbers of missed and under-utilised opportunities.

“Mmadigital provides an excellent digital marketing service to law firms, which needs to be supported by a strong telephone, as well as online, response to maximise new business conversions. After all there is little point in generating new leads if firms aren’t then in a position to capitalise on them.”

The ethics of the SRA’s social media warning notice

Mena Ruparel

Social media portals are regularly used by firms and those who work for law firms in both professional and personal capacities. Their informal nature and the fast pace of use makes it all too easy for regulated people to get carried away with online discussions or comments which can fall foul of the regulator. This is more likely to happen on social media platforms as these are virtual, accessed in the solicitor’s own time and space. It can be easy to forget that solicitors are regulated just the same at 11pm on their home computer as they are at 3pm in the office or at court.
