Invest In Law helps property firms merge

Holmes: delighted

Invest In Law has helped Cardiff-based commercial property firm Insight Law LLP merge with Bristol-based residential conveyancing practice Roy Coles & Co. The amalgamated firm will continue to trade as Insight Law.

Partner and co-founder of Insight Law, Paul Jones, said: “Being a niche property firm, we felt we were punching above our weight in the commercial sector in Wales and the South West, but we had ambitions to extend our property offering into the residential sector, and with Claire Bate of Roy Coles & Co and her team, we found the perfect partner to do that.”

Mr Jones went onto say that the process was far from straightforward. “The hardest part of the process was transferring the panel status with the lenders. Invest In Law brokered the merger for us, and beforehand were able to arrange for us to speak to another firm who had recently merged and had successfully navigated the same course with the lenders.

“That enabled us to anticipate the problems and how we would offer solutions. Fortunately the lenders have been excellent to work with through the issues, and we are very pleased to say we’ve been able to deal with them successfully.”

Ms Bate said she was delighted for her and her team to join Insight Law. “As a sole practitioner I found myself spending a disproportionate amount of time dealing with the regulatory burden. I decided merging my firm was the answer, but I was very conscious I wanted to join the right practice, so I contacted Invest In Law.

“They soon found me a suitable merger partner, and were invaluable in terms of their assistance throughout the process. As a partner in a larger entity, the regulatory burden is now shared and allows me to spend much more time doing what I do best – and that is looking after my clients’ needs.”

Ben Holmes, managing director of Invest In Law, said: “I’m delighted to have been involved in this merger, and I wish Insight Law every success for the future.”
