Elite leap to the aid of medical agencies

Master Elite Insurance Logo_(green)Following the recent MOJ announcement on MedCo, Medical Reporting Agencies (MROs) have been given under 4 weeks to find £1million worth of professional indemnity cover in order to be considered for the MedCo portal.

Professional indemnity insurance is not something previously required by MROs and so finding this type of cover before the April 6 deadline has led many agencies to scrabble around trying to find suitable insurance.

Experience of practice by digital support suggests that working practices will become much more informal and spontaneous, not requiring support by specific entities or even contractual arrangements. This is likely to be particularly true of the Bar, which is or should be a profession focusing on individuals. The future of the Bar is more likely to resemble a library as seen in Scotland and Ireland – albeit an electronic library – rather than the traditional chambers structure.
