Concert Networks New 200The North West Cyber Security Cluster of which we are a member are hosting another cyber security conference next month at The Imperial Hotel, Blackpool.

The event will take place on the 15th and 16th of March and will feature high level speakers from The European Commission, The MoD, DCMS as well as world renowned keynote speakers such as Jenny Radcliffe, Bennett Arron and Ralph Langner.

The event is free to attend with a very short survey and you can book your tickets here.

Subject matter will be wide ranging across the two days and will include how to bid for government contracts, future policies, insurance and training.

As well as speakers, CSC2016 will be hosting Q and A panels and workshops which will feature some key elements which have been highlighted that people wish to know more about, such as what certifications and training levels are there, what Cyber Essentials entails and hacking the human.

Algorithms and the law

Our aim is to start a discussion in the legal profession on the legal impact of algorithms on firms, software developers, insurers, and lawyers. In a longer paper, we consider whether algorithms should have a legal personality, an issue which will likely provoke an intense debate between those who believe in regulation and those who believe that ‘code is law’. In law, companies have the rights and obligations of a person. Algorithms are rapidly emerging as artificial persons: a legal entity that is not a human being but for certain purposes is legally considered to be a natural person. Intelligent algorithms will increasingly require formal training, testing, verification, certification, regulation, insurance, and status in law.
